Introduction
In 2016, Los Angeles Rams Owner and Chairman E. Stanley Kroenke broke ground on his vision of building SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park, a 298-acre sports and entertainment complex in Inglewood, California.
Built on the former location of the Hollywood Park Racetrack and Los Angeles Forum, SoFi Stadium was intended to become an iconic large-scale providing an unparalleled sports and events experience in the heart of Los Angeles.
The Project
Mr. Kroenke was the driving force behind this unique project from day one. He envisioned a transformative stadium experience for sports fans and entertainment aficionados, including more than 12 different club spaces and seven suite experiences that offered panoramic views of downtown Los Angeles. Visitors can also enjoy an immersive football experience that places them closer to NFL players during live gameplay than at any other stadium.
SoFi Stadium would be designed to enhance the city’s reputation as a world-class sports, entertainment, and recreation destination. The ambitious project required the collaboration of top North American design, engineering, and construction firms, including Kiewit.
Kiewit is one of the industry’s leading construction and engineering organizations, specializing in solving complex and challenging projects. To help them fulfill the requirements of the SoFi Stadium construction plan, they brought MSL in to build and install rebar.
MSL’s Approach
MSL’s engineering experts met with the client to learn all about the project requirements and any challenges that needed addressing. We helped review drawings and fully collaborated with the other engineering stakeholders to ensure a smooth rebar installation process.
We put their entire team’s knowledge and experience to work for our client throughout the rebar detailing, scheduling, logistics, and installation phases. MSL professionals were always on hand to answer any questions. Our approach to construction keeps everyone in the loop and covers every detail through every project’s lifecycle.
The Results
MSL worked diligently to complete the project under budget and ahead of schedule. The company’s engineers installed over 5,000 tons of steel and concrete to help bring Mr. Kroenke’s vision of the project to life.
SoFi Stadium is now home to the National Football League’s Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers teams and hosts college football’s annual LA Bowl. The 70,000-seat, fixed-roof stadium hosted Super Bowl LVI in 2022 and will host other prestigious events in the future, such as the College Football National Championships, WrestleMania 39, select 2026 FIFA World Cup matches, and some 2028 Summer Olympics events.
MSL is thrilled to be part of the legacy SoFi Stadium will continue to bring residents and visitors to Los Angeles for generations to come.
